Grossmont moves up in the Grossmont-Hills slate! El Capitan moves down a notch in their home conference game, where Grossmont was victorious at 51-7.
Vaqueros quarterback Jamie Odom had a great game, starting off with Grossmont’s first touchdown from his 18-yard touchdown run. El Capitan pushed back in the second quarter with a 21-yard touchdown pass form Antonio Olivieri to Star Iuli, bringing the score to a tie at 7-7. Antonio Olivieri went at it again, but this time his 10-yard pass was intercepted by Foothillers Noah Cress, who ran it 37 yards into the end zone! First half ended 16-7, Grossmont.
Grossmont’s QB Jamie Odom came back in the third quarter, this time with a 42-yard pass to Josh Moala, which put the team in scoring position. The next play, a handoff from Odom to Shevell Sterling one yard from the end zone, ended in yet another touchdown for the Foothillers. Jamie Odom had another great play; a 47 yard touchdown pass to Connor Sanchez, bringing the score to 37-7 Grossmont.
A few touchdown runs in the fourth quarter brought Grossmont their victory at 51-7. Grossmont moves up in their slate and can add another win to their belt. Jamie Odom proved to be an instrumental player, and his back-and-forth chemistry with Shevell Sterling moved the team up the field.
Can’t wait to see how both teams progress in the league season! Catch all of the updates on PPR.
El Capitan hosts Grossmont High School this Friday, opening up their Grossmont – Hills slate.
The Vaqueros are coming off a loss last Friday against Granite Hills (28-7) shifting their stats to 2-3. Seniors Antonio Olivieri and Dylan Burke made the team’s only touchdown of the night with a 22-yard touchdown pass, so we’ll be on the lookout for more dynamic plays from these two players. El Capitan stands in the bottom two, next to Valhalla, in the Grossmont-Hills slate. However, Grossmont only hovers over them at 3-2, falling into the middle of the slate. Will this conference game propel Grossmont further, or give El Capitan the chance to rise up?
Grossmont was off last week but came off of a big win the week before against the Buena Park Coyotes, defeating them at 56-17. Sophomore quarterback Jamie Odom threw three touchdown passes, so we’ll be looking out for plays and points scored by this young, but promising player. Grossmont’s defensive line is what makes them stand out. El Capitan’s offense will have to bring their A-game to get past the Foothillers defensive lineman.
Grossmont might have come off a big win, but that was two weeks ago. Will their off-week bring them down, or did it give them the rest they needed? Although the two teams are just a game apart in stats (2-3, El Capitan; 3-2, Grossmont), every win matters in the small Grossmont-Hills Slate. Join us on PPR, Friday at 10pm, to see who moves up in the ranking!
