Granite Hills swoops in and seals the win. This week the Granite Hills Eagles visited the Santana Sultans and they were not messing around.
The first quarter had a few first downs from both teams, but there was a lot of going back and forth. The game didn’t really begin until the second quarter when Granite Hills scored thanks to a 17 yard touchdown pass to Christopher Ostreng thrown by Jacob Siegfried. The Sultans then bounced back after a 62 yard touchdown pass to Cam Kane thrown by Josh Oedewaldt. The Sultans eventually regained possession, but a pass was intercepted by Jack Siegfried of the Eagles. Keyvon Martin of the Eagles would then score a 7 yard touchdown run. Leaving the score at 14-7 which was the final score at halftime.
The second half began with Keyvon Martin scoring another touchdown, this time for 41 yards, however the extra point was no-good, leaving the score at 20-7. The Sultans then gained the possession again and another interception was caught by the Eagles, this time by Ethen Bishop. After a few first downs, Granite Hills found their way to the end zone once more with a 1 yard touchdown by David Gonzalez. The Eagles ended the first quarter with an impressive sack by Joseph Russell from Granite Hills.
The fourth quarter kicked off with a field goal kicked by Timmy Tischer of the Sultans leaving the score at 26-10. After some more of going back and forth, Jacob Siegfried connected with William Burton for a 6 yard touchdown pass. The final score of this match would end up being Granite Hills 40, and Santana 10.
Week 7 is now upon us and this Friday head over to Santana High School and watch the Granite Hills Eagles take on the Santana Sultans.
So far the Sultans are 3-3. Last week they took an unfortunate loss against Mar Vista with a final score of 34-28. However, the Sultans have achieved impressive wins against schools such as Vincent Memorial, Castle Park, and they even shut out Clairemont. Senior quarterback, Josh Oedewaldt has achieved 748 passing yards and senior linebacker, Landon Wood has achieved 45 solo tackles so far this season.
As for the Eagles, they are currently 3-2 and last week received an impressive win against El Capitan with a final score of 28-7. Senior quarterback, Jacob Siegfried has achieved 513 passing yards and 640 rushing yards. While sophomore defensive back, Ethen Bishop has achieved 38 total tackles so far this season.
The Sultans are currently ranked 12th in Division 3 while the Eagles are ranked 7th in Division 2, but based on past performance from both of these teams, especially offensively, this seems like a fairly even match-up. The game will be held this Friday October 6th at 7:00 at Santana High School.
