San Diego High School (6-0, 1-0) continues their unprecedented success through Week Seven of the Prep Pigskin Report with a cross league win over Classical Academy (3-3, 0-1), 47-29.
The Cavers have been nothing but short from a powerhouse this year, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
Within the first minute of the game, San Diego was able to work the ball down the field to set up an easy 9-yard touchdown run from Jayden Wickware.
In response, Classical Academy’s Diego Preciado returned the ball for 60-yards to put the Caimans on the Cavers 35-yard line. A few plays later, quarterback James Duncan faked the hand-off, shifting San Diego’s defense, and found Daniel Thomas in the end zone for an 8-yard touchdown. With less than eight minutes to go in the first, the score was tied 7-7.
Later on in the quarter, Cavers quarterback Quinn O’Connor found Daniel Thomas down the field for a 71-yard touchdown. The extra point was missed, putting San Diego up 13-7 against Classical Academy.
San Diego began to gain confidence on the defensive side of the ball as well after Dominic Adkins blocked Caiman quarterback James Duncan’s intended pass, which popped it in the air and was intercepted by Caver Eric Orfanos. This set up a 2-yard touchdown by Raiden Hunter.
With an early 19-7 lead, San Diego continued to control the field, never letting Classical Academy back in the game. Cavers finished the game on top 47-29.
San Diego will continue to pursue their undefeated season next week against Kearny High School (6-0, 1-), a team who is also undefeated. Classical Academy will play another non-conference game against Santa Fe Christian (3-3, 1-0) for Week Eight of the Prep Pigskin Report.
