Today's game definitely kept football fans on their toes; if they were Centurion fans. For the third meet up within the past few years, University City was seeking their third straight shut out victory against Crawford for the Jersey Mike's City Game of the Week. Although it was not a complete shut-out, the Centurions still managed to take yet another victory away from the Colts.
In the first quarter, Crawford was already off to a rocky start. Crawford's Marlow Jenkins would gain 8 yards, but the play after Crawford fumbled the ball and was picked up by the Centurions . Centurions super star sophomore quarterback, Gunnar Gray, would make contact with Jimmy Galindo for a 19-yard touchdown. PAT was no good. Score 6-0 University City. The Centurion action continued when Gunnar Gray passes to Marcel Patterson for a touchdown. One point was not good enough for the Centurions, so they went in for the 2-point conversion. Conversion was good. Colts still trail 14-0. Before the end of the first quarter, Crawford tried yet again to get on the board, but would be intercepted.
Going into the second quarter, Crawford quarterback Shawn Balala would connect to his partner in crime Ali Musa for a 55-yard gain. Yet again, this quarter would be in the hands of University City. University City would add another touchdown to the board, from tonight's University City Duo Gunnar Gray to Marcel Patterson. PAT would be no good. Score 34-0 University City at the half.
Entering the second half, Crawford was determined to not only get on the board, but to put up a fight. Crawford's Marlow Jenkins would score a touchdown. PAT was good and Crawford was finally on the board. Score would be 34-7 University City. That would be the one and only time Crawford would score. The rest of the game would be in the hands of Gunnar Gray and the Centurions. Gunnar would connect to Marcel Patterson yet again. PAT was no good, followed by another touchdown shortly after.
Final score of the game: 47-7 University City. Third time is the charm for the Centurions.

Week 7 of the PPR and high school football is underway. One game that will definitely keep football fans on their toes is Crawford versus University City at Hoover. The undefeated Colts are looking to keep their perfect 5-week winning streak going when they go against another top competitor, the Centurions.
In the last few years, the two have come together in the 2012 and 2016 seasons. The Centurions won both times against the Colts, in shut-out none-the-less: 37-0 and 35-0.
Crawford has been an unstoppable force this season, with many players gaining exposure through show highlights and Play of the Week votes. They continue to be a force to wrecked with, with averaging almost 30 points per game. Although they continue to win, the only thing they can’t seem to win is being able to play at a real home field. Crawford's field has yet to open, but will on 10/20 for their homecoming game.
Colts head coach Mike Wright, who has held his own for the past six seasons, has been looking forward to playing the Centurions, who are the leaders for Division 4. He believes that players such as his senior superstars will help the team not only gain more victories under this season’s belt, but to make it to playoffs; especially after last season’s disappointing 3-7 record. Wright knows quarterback Shawn Balala, senior wide receiver Ali Musa, and senior Niko Perry and the team as a whole can accomplish this.
Balala, Musa and Perry are just three of the players to not only watch this game, but the rest of the season. Balala averages almost 133 yards per game and has a total of 16 touchdowns this season. Balala’s go-to man, Musa, continues to be a force to reckoned with. In last week's game against Mountain Empire, Musa returned a punt for 79 yards for a touchdown has five solo tackles and thirteen assisting tackles on the defense side. When it comes to Perry, Perry has helped the team with six touchdowns, five rushing and one receiving.
Centurions, who have only lost one game this season and remain one of the teams to watch, continue to impress week after week, especially under the leader of sophomore quarterback Gunnar Gray. In five games alone, Gray has thrown for 1351 yards, with a good amount of that help being from junior wide receiver Casey Granfors. Granfors averages about 100.4 receiving yards per game, 502 total receiving yards, and has a total of 9 touchdowns so far this season.
Will Shawn Balala and the Colts remain undefeated or will Gunnar Gray and the Centurions take yet another victory from their grasp and break the Colts undefeated 2017 record.
Kickoff is set for an early start time of 3:30pm at Hoover.
