Tri-City Christian 49, Escondido Charter 8

Posted: Updated:

Although the Tri-tip sandwiches at Tri-City Christian were phenomenal, their offense might have been better.

Friday night was all Tri-City Christian as the Eagles soared over the Escondido Charter White Tigers 49-8.

Tri-City Christian’s defense was extremely impressive. Trey Blackford, a freshman cornerback for the Eagles, had two interceptions that led to scoring drives. Christian Salibo who scored multiple times on offense, also had an interception, and it resulted in six points as he took it 25 yards for the touchdown.

Escondido Charter managed to create some offense at the end of the game as their backup quarterback, Chase MacMahon, drove them the length of the field and scored as time expired. The White Tigers went for the two-point conversion and it was MacMahon, who took it himself for the score.

The win improved the Tri-City Christian Eagles record to 4-3 as they take on the Maranatha Christian Eagles next week. I guess we will have to see which flock of Eagles will fly higher as both teams currently sit at the top of the Pacific League Standings.

You can be sure to catch highlights every Friday at 10:30 p.m. for the rest of the season on the Prep Pigskin Report on KUSI. The show airs again Saturday nights at 11:30 p.m. if you are like us Red Jackets who cannot get enough of the PPR.

PREVIEW: As we progress into October, the nights get darker earlier and the weather begins to cool down. Can you think of any way that you would rather spend a Friday Night then grabbing a pumpkin spice latte or a hot chocolate, to watch high school football across San Diego County?

This week, the Prep Pigskin Report will have coverage of 33 games from across the county, one of those being the Tri-City Christian Eagles vs the Escondido Charter White Tigers.

Normally, Orange Glenn High School is where Escondido Charter plays their home games, but the head coach for the White Tigers, Greg Brose, stated, “Due to electrical problems at Orange Glen High School, our game has been moved to Tri-City Christian's field on Friday.” With that being said, this will still be considered a home game for the White Tigers, despite the fact they are playing on the Eagles home turf.

The Tri-City Christian Eagles are coming off a big conference win against the Army-Navy Warriors as they sit at the top of the Pacific League Standings along with the Francis Parker Lancers.

For Escondido Charter, they are not only seeking their first overall victory of the season, but with a win, they could have the same conference record as their opponents, Tri-City Christian.

If you have the pleasure of attending a game this Friday, please make sure to tune into the Prep Pigskin Report on KUSI when you get home, to enjoy highlights from all the other games featured around the county.
