Corvette Diner Alarm Clock Pep Rally Game: Cathedral Catholic Dons 62, Scripps Ranch Falcons 7

Posted: Updated:

Recap: It was homecoming at Cathedral Catholic as they took on the Scripps Ranch Falcons. Game was at 7 p.m. the 2-4 Dons facing the 1-5 Falcons. First year Scripps Ranch head coach Marlon Gardinera trying to pick up a win, the first time in a while that the Falcons have had a decent shot at beating the Dons in several years.

Cathedral Catholic junior running back Ryan Kilpatrick helped lead the Dons to their victory as he had 5 touchdowns, 15 carries, and 236 yards on the night.  This of course with the help of quarterback Kai Brown who knew exactly who to pass the ball to as the duo had a stream of success against the Falcons.

Scripps Ranch couldn’t quite connect against the Dons, but they did prove victorious once as quarterback Sean Field threw a long bomb to Keith Davis to put the Falcons on the board.

It was a rough game Cathedral with three personal fouls in the first quarter alone but once they settled in they couldn’t stop scoring.  Cathedral takes this one on their home turf and on homecoming with a final score of 62-7.

Cathedral resumes Western League Conference play next Friday at Mira Mesa, while the Scripps Ranch Falcons face-off against their fellow eastern-league opponents, the Morse Tigers.  Tune in next week on the PPR at 10:30 only on KUSI for highlights from these games and much more. Preview: The Scripps Ranch Falcons (1-5) and the Cathedral Catholic Dons (2-4) get ready for an Eastern v. Western league matchup with the Dons playing host.  The Dons are coming off an away loss to Madison, while the Falcons are coming off a rough 61-0 loss to Lincoln. Both schools looking for their first victory in a couple weeks.

The Dons, led by 22nd-year head coach Sean Doyle, are 2-4 so far this season. Their four losses came from the tough opponents of Orange Lutheran, Helix, Del Oro, and Madison. However, they had much success over Olympian and Westview.

The Dons will look to regain momentum on Friday night. However, the Dons will be without their star running back, Shawn Poma, who was injured earlier in the season. However, there is strength on the defensive side including some familiar names like linebacker Jake Lynch and Cornerback Colin Myers.

As for the Falcons, they are led by 1st year head coach Marlon Gardinera and are looking to add on to their win column.  Last week, was a little rough for the Falcons against one of the better football programs in San Diego, Lincoln.  But with an offense that seems to be coming together and an overall strong defense the Falcons are looking to bounce back and pick up an away ‘W.”

Kickoff is set for 6:30 pm at Cathedral on Friday.  Make sure to tune in to the Prep Pigskin Report this Friday at 10:30pm on KUSI for the highlights on this game and many more. You can also follow us on twitter and Instagram for live game updates on @redjacketarmy.
