Friday night the San Marcos Knights faced the Carlsbad Lancers at Carlsbad High School. Last week the Knights 5-game winning streak game to an abrupt halt against Torrey Pines High School. Clearly last week’s game put the Knights in a vengeful mood because San Marcos proudly walked away from the Friday night-lights with an impressive 38-6 victory.
Knights quarterback Miles Hastings completed over 200 passing yards to his teammates that resulted in 5 touchdowns. In the first half of the game, Kyle Phillips received Hastings pass and completed an 80yd touchdown. In the second half Josh Bornes completes a swift 19yd touchdown run while Gavin Cherveny completes a 39yd touchdown run.
With the Knights laser focused on winning, senior quarterback Troy Bloomquist was left in a bit of a sticky situation. The Lancers had all the right intentions but lacked execution. With San Marcos offense and defense ready to take on whatever the Lancers threw their way, there was one play they were not expecting. Bloomquist made a 25yd touchdown pass to Joe Fonetenot putting at least a number on the board.

Preview: The Prep Pigskin Report welcomes you into the 8th week of San Diego high school football. This week we’ll see the San Marco Knights (5-1) take on the Carlsbad Lancers (4-2). The Lancer’s will host the Knight’s on their home turf this Friday at 7pm.
Last week Torrey Pines put an end to San Marco’s 5 game winning streak. Despite the loss, the Knights quarterback Miles Hastings rallied with his teammates to make the game a close one. Teammates Quinn Roff and Ethan Cline took advantage of Hastings consistent passes which ultimately helped the duo earn a couple of well-deserved touchdowns.
Carlsbad football enters week 8 with an impressive week 7 win under their belt. The Lancer’s defeated the Oceanside Pirates 31-20. Senior quarterback Troy Bloomquist leads the Carlsbad offense and in just 5 games Bloomquist holds 892 passing yards and 12 touchdowns to his name. With a strong arm and sharp mind working in his favor, Bloomquist has enough power to lead his team into yet another victory on Friday.
We look forward to seeing how these teams will compete against each other. Only under the Friday night-lights will we know who comes out on top.
