The Montgomery Aztecs came out with the victory in Week 9, defeating the Southwest SD Raiders 14-7 on homecoming night. With the win, Montgomery improves too (5-3), while the Raiders fall to (2-6) on the year.
After a scoreless first quarter, Southwest SD struck first as Leonard Hoar pounded his way in for a 4-yard touchdown putting the Raider lead at 7-0. Montgomery responded however in the third, with a 4-yard touchdown by Samson You. Following the touchdown, an offside penalty by the Raiders defense pushed the Aztecs closer where they successfully completed the two-point conversion giving them an 8-7 lead.
A fumble late in the fourth quarter by Southwest’s Leonard Hoar shifted the entire momentum of the game late in the fourth quarter as the Aztecs took possession at their own 27-yard line. On the ensuing possession, the Aztec’s Hunter Joseph capped off his 181-yard rushing performance with a 27-yard touchdown run to seal the game 14-7 over the Raiders.
The Aztecs will look to extend their three-game win streak as they host the (0-8) Castle Park Trojans. Southwest will hope to get back in the win column, as they will face the (3-5) San Ysidro Cougars at home next Friday night.

The Aztecs are seeking their third straight win, which would be there longest of the season. The Raiders are coming off a tough road loss to Mar Vista by the score of 41-8 but will hope to get back in the win column this week.
Southwest SD will look to get the ball to their playmaking running back Joshua Sanchez, who has accumulated over a hundred yards in four out of the first six games for the Raiders.
The suddenly stout Aztecs defense will look to stop Sanchez and the Raiders, as they have held their opponents to under twenty points in three straight games.
