Valley Center Jaguars 48, Fallbrook Warriors 0

Posted: Updated:

The Valley Center Jaguars came to play tonight, and unfortunately for the Fallbrook Warriors this Jaguar team is one of the toughest squads to compete with when they’re zoned in. Thanks to a stifling defense and equally deadly offense, Valley Center came out on top in a 48-0 shutout.

A large portion of the Jaguars success can be attributed to the running back combo of Mateo Sinohui and Ronnie McCowan. Very few, if any, of the duos runs didn’t include a broken tackle (or ten). Thanks to their great play, Valley Center was able to open up opportunities in the passing game. Quarterback Rikki Mazzetti had yet another very strong night under center, while Zachary Mahrenholz and Richard Benjamin shined as receivers.

Fallbrook’s Jalen Webb was able to keep the crowd involved with some PPR Raw worthy material despite the large deficit. Another good night from him may be exactly what Fallbrook needs if they want to bounce back from a 1-8 start against next week’s opponent, the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns. Meanwhile, Valley Center continue their dominant season and turn their focus to next weeks home matchup with the Escondido Cougars. We’re less than a month away from playoff football, tune into the Prep Pigskin Report next week and find out how an exciting 2017 regular season starts to wrap up!

Preview: The Prep Pigskin Report will once again be bringing you all of the San Diego section’s football action, including this North County matchup between the 6-1 Valley Center Jaguars and 1-7 Fallbrook Warriors. Despite the complete opposite records, this will be a critical win for whichever side can come out on top. Fallbrook has the opportunity to play spoiler on their home field while Valley Center work to maintain their lead in the Valley League.

Valley Center quarterback Rikki Mazzetti had a rough 3 interception game in a Week 3 loss to El Capitan, but that rough night has obviously been long forgotten. Mazzetti has thrown 11 touchdowns to only 2 interceptions in the next four games, all victories. He's complemented by a powerful force in the backfield, running back Mateo Sinohui’s punishing style of running makes him a threat to break 100 yards any given game.

If Fallbrook wants to pull off an upset they’ll need quarterback Christian Cruz to have a career night. Cruz wasn’t given the starting role until Fallbrook’s fourth game of the year, but 5 games with starting experience under the belt might lead him to have that big night the Warriors are hoping to see. Tune into the Prep Pigskin Report this Friday at 10:30 PM to find out if the Jaguars obtain win number 5 in a row, or if Fallbrook can shock the section and pull off a victory!
