Morse Tigers 36, Mission Bay Buccaneers 0

REVIEW: After this week’s matchup of the Morse Tigers and the Mission Bay Buccaneers, the Tigers quickly shut out the Bucs, 36-0. Unfortunately, this also means the Bucs may be closer to a possible winless season.

Its senior night for the Bucs as they enjoy one of their last home football games with their parents, family and friends. Even though this may not be a season to remember for the team, the fans and especially the seniors have supported their team through thick and thin.

The tigers slow played the Bucks at their home field by scoring only 36 points, four of them being rushing TD, and only one being a passing TD. The energy, as well as all of the action occurred within the first half of the game, where Morse scored all five of their TDs.

University of Arizona commit, Martell Irby, participated in only the first two quarters where he had 5 carries with a total of 43 yards. Once he was taken out, he seemed to be an acting coach on the sideline with a headset, and game notes in his hand. Aside from Irby, QB Anthony Gonzales ran for a total of 57 yards with one TD pass, and a 25 yard run that later set up the Tigers last TD of the night.

PREVIEW: In this week’s matchup, the defeated Mission Bay Buccaneers host to the (4-4) Morse Tigers in hopes of gaining at least one win before the season is over. Both the Tigers and the Bucs have had fairly difficult schedules this season, however, Morse has been doing exceptionally better than Mission Bay.

The Mission Bay Buccaneers are standing at an eight game loss streak, placing them near the bottom of the California high school football rankings. It seems to be that the Bucs are just trying to put this season behind them and start fresh next season with new potential players. However, they still have two more games to prove that they are not what their record says. With an average of only seven points per game, their offense lacks the ability to produce winning scores. Nevertheless, their defense is promising in the sense of preventing insanely high scoring games.

On the other hand, the Morse Tigers are doing somewhat better than their counterpart of this week. With a record of (4-4) and the ability to score upward near 30 points a game, the Tigers have the upper hand coming into this Fridays contest.

Hopefully the Bucs will be able to finish off their season in confidence, but it will be difficult to do so against Morse, then the hungry Hornets next week.
