Homecoming luck has it! Santana defeated El Cajon Valley, 50-10.
El Cajon started the game off with a field goal in the first quarter, scored by Sarmeen Aweaa. The Sultans hit back catching El Cajon in a bad snap and recovering the ball in the end zone, bringing the score to 7-3 Sultans in the second quarter. Braves Ronald Hullums scored a 5-yard touchdown run, bringing El Cajon Valley ahead at 10-7. Santana caught the Braves again, blocking a punt and recovering in the end zone finishing the half at 14-10, Sultans.
Santana carried off the second half with a 20-yard touchdown run by Ian Litten. Another touchdown was scored soon after with an 11-yard pass from quarterback Josh Oedewaldt to senior Cam Kane, bringing the score to 28-10, Santana. With a safety and a few touchdowns later, the Sultans carry the win of 50-10. Santana ended the night with two impressive recovery touchdowns, one being the snap and the other the blocked punt.
This moves Santana's standings to 4-5 and El Cajon Valley's to 2-7. Santana also moves up to third in the Grossmont - Valley slate. Let's see what the rest of the season brings!
Santana High School hosts El Cajon Valley this Friday in their conference Homecoming game.
Santana is 3-5, coming off a close loss at their last game against Monte Vista, which ended 24-17. Santana is just above El Cajon Valley in the Grossmont-Valley slate, taking fourth place.
El Cajon Valley is also coming off a loss against Monte Vista, their game was last week, which ended 50-0. The devastating loss set El Cajon back to 2-6 and last in their slate.
