Only one team could leave San Pasqual with a winning record tonight, and it ended up being the hosts. The San Pasqual Golden Eagle's three quarters of domination was more than enough as they took care of the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns 48-6.
The game was incredibly chippy even with a 34-0 halftime lead for San Pasqual. Flags were thrown throughout the third quarter, but the Golden Eagles were able to take advantage thanks to a couple of interceptions. Thomas Del Mastro snagged the first pick while Juan Juache returned another to the house.
Dorian Richardson was able to get his Longhorns on the board late in the 4th but it was too late for the Longhorns. A running clock certainly didn't help, but the way the Eagle offense was playing it may have been for the best. With this victory San Pasqual improve to 5-4 with a final road game against Escondido to go. Rancho Buena Vista can bounce back from their 4-5 record by defeating Fallbrook next Friday. Both sides hope to make some noise in this years playoffs, tune into the Prep Pigskin Report next week to find out how the regular season wraps up!
Preview: We're nearing the home stretch of the CIF regular season, and teams are fighting for a chance to shine in the 2017 playoffs. This isn't just an important time for the elite championship favorites, middle of the pack squads are looking to end the year strong and push their way into the big dance. Both the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns and San Pasqual Golden Eagles come into this game at 4-4 with an opportunity to either enter the playoffs on a hot streak or fizzle out of the postseason entirely.
Rancho Buena Vista has had a very up and down season, but this team can obviously compete with the best. Despite losing three straight games, the team has gone neck in neck with some talented schools. The Longhorns have star running back Dorian Richardson to rely on; a big game from him is critical to Rancho Buena Vista's success.
San Pasqual lost a heartbreaker in last Friday’s matchup with Oceanside after falling to Valley Center the week before, but this team is no stranger to dominance. The Golden Eagles outscored opponents 137-0 during a three game winning streak prior to those two losses. Whichever San Pasqual team shows up could be the difference between victory and defeat.
