There's no better feeling than being undefeated on a Friday night, except maybe being undefeated the next Friday. The Bishops Knights were able to do just that and in absolutely dominating fashion by defeating the Classical Academy Caimans 73-0.
Neither team had a home field advantage due to the game being at Orange Glen. The Bishops Knights were obviously not bothered by this. Mozes Mooney is a name we might be hearing for many years down the line, and he showed why tonight. Mooney started the night off with an incredibly athletic 49 yard touchdown catch from Jeffrey Jackson and added a 73 yard catch and score shortly before halftime. The Jackson brothers were also deadly as usual, Jeffrey to Jacob resulted in two first half touchdowns and a lot of strong offense.
Running back Jake Gilbert had an impressive night for the Classical Academy Caimans but the Knights did an incredible job of keeping him out of where it truly mattered: the end zone. The Bishops Knights have a shot at perfection in next week's battle with La Jolla Country Day, and Classical Academy can end their season on a high note by defeating Orange Glen. It's possible tonight's game ends up being a blessing in disguise as the Caimans are already accustomed to the Orange Glen turf. Preview: The San Diego section’s playoffs are almost here, and there are plenty of exciting matchups that will have plenty of postseason ramifications. One of those games will be held on neutral ground between the Bishops Knights and Classical Academy Caimans. The Knights travel to Orange Glen High School at a perfect 7-0 and are hoping to end the season with an unblemished record. Classical Academy come into this game at 3-4, a victory gives them a chance to make the playoffs and potentially play as the Cinderella team.
The Bishops Knights have been unstoppable both on the field and in the record books. Jeffrey Jackson has moved to second all time in CIF touchdown passes while Mozes Mooney holds multiple records in the receiving department. Jackson’s 26 touchdowns to only 2 interceptions makes him one of the deadliest quarterbacks in the county, and Mooney’s ability to score from any position on the field makes him equally lethal.
Classical Academy may have lost back to back games heading into this matchup but a possible upset is not out of the question. Running back Jake Gilbert has been the focal point of the Caiman offense with over 1,200 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns on the ground. It will be exciting to see Gilbert battle with Jackson and Mooney for Friday nights spotlight. Tune into the Prep Pigskin Report this Friday at 10:30PM and see which team comes out on top!
