The La Costa Canyon Mavericks (6-3, 3-2) come out as winners for Week Ten of the Prep Pigskin Report, shutting out the Oceanside Pirates (3-6, 0-5) 21-0.
La Costa Canyon took an early lead in the game, scoring two quick touchdowns to take the Mavericks in to halftime up 14-0.
Oceanside was hoping to come back out in the second half and take control of the game, but the No. 6 ranked Mavericks proved triumphant and finished on top.
The Mavericks would find the end zone one more time before the end of regulation with a Jake Neufeld to Sam Johnson connection for 13-yards.
La Costa Canyon finishes the game up 21-0, adding another victory to their schedule.
The most anticipated week of the Prep Pigskin Report is finally here – Rivalry Week. La Costa Canyon will be heading to Torrey Pines High School to take on the Falcons (6-3, 3-2). Oceanside will be hosting their rival, the El Camino Wildcats (5-4, 2-3).

PREVIEW: Week Ten of the Prep Pigskin Report is traveling to the North County this week to cover an Avocado League game between the Oceanside Pirates (3-5, 0-4) and the La Costa Canyon Mavericks (5-3, 2-2).
Oceanside is still trying to find their first conference win of the season, but Friday won’t be an easy task.
Perhaps the toughest conference in San Diego County, the Avocado League houses seven teams with five of them ranked in the Prep Pigskin Report’s Top Ten: Mission Hills at No. 1, San Marcos at No. 4, Torrey Pines at No. 5, La Costa Canyon at No. 6, and El Camino at No. 10.
Both schools have crossed paths 12 times, but La Costa Canyon has only taken down Oceanside once back in 2011. They came close last year, but the Pirates squeaked by in a 27-26 win.
Led by head coach Sean Sovacool, the La Costa Canyon Mavericks have been a reckoning force throughout the San Diego County despite their losses to ranked opponents. Senior quarterback Jake Neufeld and Karson Lippert have been huge standouts on offense, and the Pirates will need to shut these two out to secure a win.
There is no injury report for either team and both are expected to be playing with full, active rosters.
Highlights of this game and 32 others from around San Diego County can be seen on the Emmy-Award winning high school football show "Prep Pigskin Report." Kick off is at 10:30 every Friday night during the fall on KUSI-TV Channel 9/51. Live streaming of the show will also be available on KUSI.com.
