LOS ANGELES (AP) - Police in Los Angeles, New York and London are working to untangle an ever-growing mass of allegations of sexual assault and harassment against powerful men.
Los Angeles police say they have more than two-dozen such open investigations. Beverly Hills police have a dozen and London at least nine. New York police have received more than a dozen complaints but will confirm only one active investigation.
Most of the cases stem from claims against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein - but authorities say they've also taken complaints made against other men in power.
Unlike cases involving everyday people, pressure from the media and high-powered attorneys create added problems.
This week, an attorney for actress Paz de la Huerta threatened protests if New York prosecutors failed to pursue her rape accusation against Weinstein.
