John Coleman's Forecast - May 15, 2008
THE WEATHER IN BRIEF

How hot will it be in San Diego County on Friday. That is the big question for me this Wednesday evening. The official NWS forecast for San Diego includes these highs on Friday:

Lindbergh Field 86

Miramar 97

Chula Vista 97

Temecula 100

Fallbrook 101

Rancho Bernardo 99

El Cajon 102

Julian 81

Mount Laguna 81

Borrego Springs 98

Those predicted highs are supported by several computer programs. And they may be right or close to it. In that case, it will be some record breaking heat.

The KUSI Supercast Hi Rez computer predicts temperatures close to these for Friday and the satellite evidence is now very supportive of the excessive heat predictions. So now I am a believer. Those official temperatures are a solid forecast.

In any case, basically sunny and hot weather is spreading into the area and will continue through the weekend into next week.

Here is the detailed forecast for San Diego for the next seven days, issued National Weather Service Thursday afternoon:

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 61. Calm wind becoming north between 5 and 10 mph.

Poll

In light of President Bush's lifting of the executive ban on offshore drilling, do you think congress should follow suit and lift the federal ban?

  • Yes, lifting the ban will help lower gas prices down the road.
  • No, the U.S. should concentrate their resources on alternative energy.
