1/27/19 Rugby: RU New York 25, San Diego Legion 23

At Torero Stadium the San Diego Legion opens its season hosting Rugby United from New York.

Late in the first half Legion Nick Boyer dives for the try to cut the New York lead to 8 points.

In the 70th minute Legion team captain Joe Pietersen scores the go-ahead try; it looks good for the home team after taking a 5 point lead.

But with 5 minutes to play the officials call a penalty try on this play awarding the visitors 7 points, and that’s how it ends.

New York spoils the Legion’s season opener winning 25-23.
