1/28/20 Boys Basketball: Coronado 49, Point Loma 47

It was a packed house at the Point Loma gym as the Pointers welcomed in the rival Coronado Islanders.

But before hostilities could be renewed on the court, both sides observed a 24-second moment of silence in honor of late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.

Once the game got underway, the home side would start out hot thanks to the shooting hands of junior Gabe Harrison and senior captain Jakob Tonnear-DiCarlo; the Pointers would also get buckets in the paint from fellow senior captain Tyler Morris.

The Islanders would chip away, as Luke Chisholm and Jake Hacker would drop some key shots.

But Coronado is led by their sensational junior Wayne McKinney III, as his deft passing and game-high 29 points lead the Islanders to a hard-fought 49-47 win.
