1 dead, 1 critically injured in Skyline shooting

 San Diego Homicide Detectives are investigating a shooting in the Skyline area, that leaves one man dead and another in critical but stable condition, according to police.

Officers responded to the 7800 block of Bloomfield Road near South Meadowbrook Drive, shortly before 3 a.m. They found a 23-year-old man lying on a sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Officers securing the scene were notified of a second victim. Police say the 21-year-old man was taken to a separate hospital in critical but stable condition. 

Investigators said there was a large a gathering in the 7700 block of Bloomfield Road. During the confrontation, the suspect drew a handgun and shot both victims.

The names of the victims have not yet been released. Police have not released a shooting suspect description.
