10/20/18 Junior College Football: Southwestern 37, Grossmont 20

Southwestern College completed the San Diego trifecta by beating Grossmont 37-20 on Saturday afternoon.

The Jaguars become the first local JUCO program to beat all the San Diego teams in the same season in 20 years. Southwestern quarterbacks Marcus Hernandez-Torres and Demonte Morris led the way for the Jaguars, throwing for 247 yards with 2 touchdowns. Mr. Do-It-All DeAngelo Howard had a big day with 208 all-purpose-yards and 2 TDs (1 receiving and 1 on a 60-yard punt-return).

Grossmont’s Brady Apt finished the day 16/42 for 215 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Mathew Linton had a good day at wide receiver; he finished with 122 yards with a touchdown.

The Jaguars (5-2) will travel to Riverside next week, while the Griffins (0-7) welcome in Orange Coast.
