$100 million awarded in city funds to repair sidewalks

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The city of San Diego is launching an aggressive campaign to repair the city’s cracked and aging sidewalks that have resulted in the payout of millions of dollars worth of injury claims.

San Diego City Councilmember Mark Kersey says the uneven sidewalks are not only dangerous for residents and children, but those who use wheelchairs.  “What I’d like to do is spend a lot less money on settling injury claims that people have filed…and spend more money on actually fixing the problem,” he says.

KUSI’s John Soderman was on hand to tell us more.
