12-hour fundraiser for fallen police officer

The San Diego Police Officers Association and the operator of a City Heights fast-food restaurant will hold a 12-hour fundraiser in honor of SDPD Officer Jeremy Henwood, who was murdered in August 2011 while patrolling in the area.

The event, which will include a raffle and displays of law enforcement vehicles, is being held at the McDonald’s at 3879 Fairmount Ave., where Henwood’s last act of kindness was caught on surveillance camera as he bought cookies for a young boy.  On Thursday, the 3-year anniversary of Henwood’s death, a portion of the proceeds from sales at that McDonald’s will be donated to the SDPOA Widows and Orphans Fund.
