2018 La Jolla Art & Wine Festival celebrates ten years of fine art & wine

LA JOLLA (KUSI) – Over the years, the LJAWF has expanded through the quaint streets of the village of La Jolla, and grown to be noted as one of the most prestigious art and wine festivals in Southern California. This milestone anniversary celebrates how far this extraordinary event has come over the past decade and the support it will give to future generations in the next 10 years to come!

With a widely known passion for giving back, LJAWF Founder Sherry Ahern was driven to build a foundation that would help the community and local schools, while also reigniting the inspiration of art back into La Jolla. What better way to gather family and friends than enjoying a FREE festival filled with spectacular art, fine wines and entertainment for all ages to enjoy? The La Jolla Art & Wine Festival has grown in both size and reputation, attracting unique artists from across the globe—both internationally recognized and up-and-coming talent. This year art lovers and on-lookers alike can view dynamic collections from over 150 juried artists boasting awe-inspiring pieces such as paintings, sculptures, jewelry design, fine glass, ceramics, woodwork, mixed media and photography.

Dedicated to funding the passions of local students, LJAWF wanted to bring impressive young talent to life this year by showcasing some of the incredible kids in the community, as well as interactive opportunities for others to join! Prepare to be amazed with this astounding collection of creativity in the Geppetto’s Family Art Center + Lab, featuring creations by award-winning robotics teams, visual artist and cancer survivor Liv Kyle, a third grader at La Jolla Elementary, who will be painting live and leading a sketch activity, performances by youth-musicians the 606, Halfblood and more! At LJAWF, everyone is an artist! Let your little ones become part of the art with collaborative canvas murals and artmaking activities for all ages to enjoy! To celebrate LJAWF’s 10-year birthday, the Geppetto’s Family Art Center + Lab will also feature 10 pieces of student artwork and 10 time capsule items from each recipient school representing an eye to the FUTURE that will be stored in the La Jolla Rifford Library for the next 10 years!

Of course, it isn’t the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival we all know and love without the roving entertainment and the delicious food and drinks! LJAWF is filled with all things finer in life for visitors to enjoy—and that means the food court, too!
