2018 Miss Poway winners
The 2018 Miss Poway winners are;
Miss Poway – Gabriella Sheffler
Miss Teen Poway – Tessa Tricarico
Miss Junior Teen – Devyn Jones
The Poway Kiwanis Club proudly presents the 56th annual Miss Poway Scholarship Pageant. Young ladies will be vying for the titles of Miss Poway, Miss Teen Poway and Miss Junior Teen Poway as well as six princesses.
The young woman have been rehearsing for the pageant for eight weeks, according to Gruber. During those eight weeks, the contestants learned public speaking skills, resume writing, interview skills, modeling, walking and confidence skills, took a self-defense class, a makeup class and had a professional photography session.
They also volunteered as a group at the San Diego Humane Society’s “Walk for Animals” at Kit Carson Park in Escondido and at Valley Elementary School’s after-school program on “Read Across America” day, to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss.
The contestants will be scored in four categories, the judges’ interview panel, a “getting to know you” question, an impromptu question and the gown competition. The interview panel carries the most weight at 50 points and the gown competition the least at five points, along with attendance at rehearsals also being worth five points. Both questions are worth 20 points each. There are four judges on each panel for each age group.
The contestants will be escorted onstage during the gown competition by cadets from Westview High School’s NJROTC and the San Diego State and the University of San Diego ROTC.
