Jewish Family Service offers free groceries to furloughed workers

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Every Tuesday, until the partial government shutdown comes to an end, the Jewish Family Service will be offering free groceries to furloughed federal workers.

Workers who bring their federal ID can have access to non-perishables and produce at their Balboa Avenue location in Kearny Mesa.

In San Diego there are 5,000 federal workers and contractors affected by the shutdown, many are already low-income, and many are in the new position of having to reach out for financial assistance for the first time in their lives.

As long as the shutdown continues, federal workers can get free groceries every Tuesday from 5-7p.m.
