3/23/19 Baseball: Classical Academy 10 – San Pasqual 8

Classical Academy took home the North County Tournament Championship with a 10-8 win over San Pasqual in the title game on Saturday evening.

The Eagles took the early 1-0 lead in the 1st inning when Elijah Jackson scored on a Fielder’s Choice. The Caimans came back in the 3rd inning, scoring 3 runs to take the 2-run lead. Corban Arnold scored on a Fielder’s Choice to tie it up at 1, while JP Deluca had an RBI Single that scored Noah Dull. Later, it was Deluca coming around on a E-6.

The Eagles tied it in the bottom of the 3rd, on an RBI Double by JT Hoffman that brought Jason Hall around to score, and a sacrifice fly by Parker Steadman scored Tanner Clark from 3rd.

In the 4th inning, Classical Academy took the lead again, a 3-run advantage, on singles by Vince Marcantonio, Arnold, Dull, and Zack Jordan. San Pasqual got one back in the bottom of the inning thanks to an RBI Single from Hall.

The Caimans would extend their lead to 8-4 in the 6th inning, before the Eagles got a run in the bottom of the 6th and then scored 3 times in the bottom of the 7th inning, to tie it and send it into extra innings.

A sacrifice fly by Moody would give the Caimans back the lead in the top of the 9th, and after scoring once more, Classical Academy pitcher, Tim Boshaw shut the door in the bottom of the 9th to give the Eagles the victory and the championship.

San Pasqual will host Mission Vista on Monday, while Classical Academy’s next game is at Poway.
