4/2/19 Baseball: Madison 12, Cathedral Catholic 4

The Madison Warhawks used a 10-run 4th inning to beat Cathedral Catholic, 12-4, on Tuesday, in a Western League matchup.

Madison came out of the gates strong, scoring twice in the top of the 1st inning to take the early 2-0 lead. Maddox Haley singled to right field, bringing in Israel Tafolla and Adam Lovato. Tafolla finished the day with 4 hits.

The Dons got 1 of those runs back in the bottom of the inning, when Zavien Watson’s RBI single to center field brought in Ryan Blacker from 2nd base. Watson had 3 hits in the contest.

The Warhawks’ 4th inning was one to remember. The 10 runs scored were the most they’ve scored this season in a game. A wild pitch and a couple of errors got Madison a couple of runs to start teh inning. The Warhawks got RBI Singles by Tafolla, Lovato, and Connor Bell. Throw in a 2-RBI double Victor Arreola and an additional throwing error, and the lead blew up to 12-1.

Cathedral Catholic got a couple of runs in the 6th and 7th inning, but the a comeback was not to be, not with Christian Becerra on the mound for Madison. The Warhawks’ right-handed ace goes to 5-0 on teh season. He struck out 5 and didn’t allow a base-on-balls.

Madison moves to 3-0 in league play with the Dons on deck for this Thursday at home. The Dons go to 3-1 in Western League play.
