40,000 people are expected at Del Mar Opening Day

DEL MAR (KUSI) — It’s one of the hottest events here in San Diego and this year, it’s expected to be bigger than ever.

Forty thousand people are expected to turnout this Friday where the turf meets the surf.

This is the first time Opening day has fallen on a Friday since 1970. Because of that, racetrack officials are expecting it to be bigger and better than ever.

Speaking of bigger, go big or go home when it comes to getting dressed for the event because we all know it’s really all about the fashion and the hats.
