$400,000 worth of diamonds robbed from jewelry owner

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – On Wednesday, an armed robbery of $400,000 worth of diamonds occurred in an outside parking lot of Plaza Bonita Mall.

The business owner of National Jewels was coming out the mall, when he reports the suspect approached him from behind and pressed his back with some type of metal.

The suspect ordered him to empty his pockets. The jewelry business owner handed the suspect $240.

The suspect also demanded the victim’s jacket. The suspect demanded the victim’s car in which he fled.

National City Police is still investigating the incident, but no description of the suspect was provided. There were no witnesses, and surveillance cameras in the area of the mall were not working at the time.
