5/9/19 Baseball: Kearny 8, Morse 6

Kearny hosted Morse on Senior Day for the Central League title.

In the second inning, the Komets’ Jacob Redondo doubles to right field scoring Anthony George and Antonio Fierro for the 5-0 lead.

Kearny up 7-1 in the third when Duce Reynolds hits Tigers Alonzo Durazo in the back of the head; Durazo would stay in the game.

On the next at bat, Lawrence Nelson of Morse scores on the sacrifice fly but a fight breaks out. After the dust settles there are no ejections but both coaches agree to remove one player; the Tigers remove the runner Lawrence Nelson and the Komets remove their ace pitcher Duce Reynolds.

Morse then mounts a comeback and in the sixth inning Pauley Vogel singles to left driving in Isaiah Rodrigues to get within one.

But the Komets’ Jerod Gray gets the save on the mound and Kearny wins the game 8-6 and the league title.
