50th District Candidate Ammar Campa-Najjar proposes government reform agenda
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The 50th Congressional District is the seat now vacant after Duncan D. Hunter resigned earlier this month.
The other candidates in the running for the district are Republicans Carl Demaio, Brian Jones and Darrell Issa and Democrat Ammar Campa-Najjar.
Democratic Candidate Ammar Campa-Najjar introduced sweeping bipartisan legislation Thursday to end government corruption and restore power to the American people.
The package ranges from a constitutional amendment to prohibit corporate donations, public financing for campaigns, a lobbying ban, withholding pay from Congressmembers who don’t do their jobs, to preventing Members of Congress from serving on influential committees if they’ve recently failed to pass an FBI background check or facing criminal investigation.
Campa-Najjar was in studio to discuss his candidacy for the 50th and his proposed agenda.
