53rd District Candidate Georgette Gomez comes in second place behind Sara Jacobs

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Democrat Georgette Gomez took second in Tuesday’s primary to represent California’s 53rd Congressional District.

Gomez received 18.6 percent of the vote, trailing behind Democratic Candidate Sara Jacobs who garnered 29.6 percent of the vote.

The race for the seat started with 16 candidates seeking to replace Rep. Susan Davis who announced she would not seek re-election in 2020.

Gomez and Jacobs will go head-to-head in a runoff election in November.

Candidate Georgette Gomez was in studio to discuss the results of Super Tuesday and her hopes for the November election.
