62-year-old man struck by SUV in Pacific Beach
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 62-year-old man who apparently was drunk, was recovering Sunday from a serious head injury after he tried to cross the street in front of a SUV in the Pacific Beach area, a police sergeant said.
The accident took place in the 900 block of Turquoise Street about 6:20 p.m. Saturday, San Diego police Sgt. Brad O’Donnell said.
According to police, the unidentified man attempted to cross the street as a 72-year-old woman was driving a SUV headed northbound on Turquoise Street. O’Donnell said the injured man ran in front of the SUV.
The victim suffered a serious head wound and was transported to a hospital for treatment. O’Donnell said police later determined the man was drunk.
The speed of the driver was not a factor. The female motorist stopped at the scene, O’Donnell added.
The accident was being investigated by the SDPD Traffic Division, he said.
