68-year-old pedestrian hit by a car, severely injured in Rolando

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A 68-year-old pedestrian was gravely injured this afternoon when he was hit by a car at a Rolando-area intersection, authorities reported.

The eastbound 2009 Honda Fit struck the man as he was crossing El Cajon Boulevard to the north at 71st Street shortly after 12:30 p.m., according to San Diego police.

Medics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening trauma, Officer Sarah Foster said.

Traffic-accident detectives were working to determine who was at fault for the crash.
