6th Annual Nike Golf Scramble Kick-Off Social and Golf Tournament on September 11

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – On the anniversary of 9/11, injured veterans from Team Semper Fi (TSF) and Team America’s Fund (TAF) will join the Marine Corps Aviation Association (MCAA) for the 6th Annual Nike Golf Scramble Kick-Off Social and Golf Tournament, presented by the Marion Carl Squadron. 

Together, they’ll tee off in support of the Semper FI Fund, raising funds and awareness for fellow wounded, critically ill and injured service members, veterans, and their families.

"We are now fourteen years into the war, and there is a huge group of service members and wounded veterans that are returning home and need our help,” said LtCol Bruce Greene, MCAA Representative.  “The danger that we face today is that we will forget these men and women who have sacrificed so much. It’s important to raise public awareness of this issue so that these men and women continue to get taken care of. They have given us everything and we owe it to them to continue to support them in any way we can."

The annual event has raised almost $280,000 since its inception in 2010.  “It’s phenomenal the amount of assistance the Semper Fi Fund has given, and continues to give to service members in need,” continued Greene.  “We’re honored to support such a worthy cause and tremendous organization.”  

Golf Scramble and Tournament:

The day begins early, with registration at 7:00 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m., followed by an awards luncheon beginning at approximately 1:00 p.m.

Kick-Off Social:

The evening prior to the tournament, a kick-off social fundraising event will be held with hors d’oeuvres and beverages, a live auction, silent auctions and a raffle, with all proceeds to be donated to the Semper Fi Fund.
