It’s win or go home in San Bernardino at the Little League West Region Championships with Sweetwater Valley facing Sunnyside.
Bottom of the third with two on, Sunnyside’s Cristobal Lorta hits a 3-run homer to right for a 5-0 lead.
Top of the fourth, Sweetwater Valley’s Daniel Sanchez homers with a fly ball to left to get Sweetwater Valley on the board 5-1.
Top of the fifth, Josh Hughes triples on a fly ball to left; Leo Mondragon, Nyeti Snoh, and Christian Jimenez score to make the score 8-4.
Top of the sixth, Jimenez hits a ground ball and reaches first on an error; Kapono Nakanelua scores to close the gap to 8-6.
Later in the sixth, runners on first and second with two outs, Hughes grounds into a fielder’s choice to end the game by an 8-6 final.
Sweetwater Valley completes their season with 14 wins and only 3 losses, winning the District 42, Section 7, and Southern California Championships.
