813 new citizens sworn-in on Constitution and Citizenship day in San Diego
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – It was a special day for more than 800 people who became American citizens at Golden Hall in downtown San Diego today.
Tuesday also happens to be the 232nd anniversary of the Constitution, and it’s Citizenship day. There were 316 ceremonies like this one across the United States Tuesday, welcoming 34,300 new citizens to America, a welcoming country.
Last year, more than 750,000 people took the US citizenship oath, yet our immigration policies continue to be contested.
Tuesday in San Diego, 813 people from 85 different countries took the oath, was administered by US District Judge Janis Sammartino, and it was a beautiful sight to see.
KUSI’s Steve Bosh spent the day at Golden Hall where he spoke with some of our newest citizens on their big day.
