San Diego Countywide Spelling Bee Champion in studio
In a world of 140-character tweets, emojis, and hashtags (don’t forget to use #SDBee), these middle-schoolers are harkening to an age before Google and auto-correct. There are 95 students registered to compete for the title of champion and go on to represent San Diego County at the Scripps National Spelling Bee near Washington, D.C., in May. These dedicated, budding orthographers are proving that spelling still matters.
Nearly 100 local students went head to head at the 49th annual San Diego Countywide spelling bee. Pacific Trails Middle School student, Kevin Luo, came out on top and was in studio to tell us about his big win.
