91X cancels 2018 X-Fest concert at SDCCU Stadium

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — The 2018 X-Fest concert set for August 11 at SDCCU Stadium has been cancelled, 91X announced Thursday.

A statement for 91X’s Garett Michaels said the following:

“91X and Goldenvoice have made the difficult decision to cancel X-Fest 2018 on Saturday, August 11th.  After considerable thought and reflection, we feel we are unable to deliver the level of experience the fans expect from X-Fest.”

Purchased tickets will be eligible for a refund at the point of purchase.

The 2018 X-Fest was going to be headlined by Beck and Death Cab For Cutie before the cancellation of the event.

X-Fest has been a regular fixture in San Diego since 2006, with a concert being held every year since, with 2009 being the lone exception.

From 2006-2008 the event was held at the since-renamed Qualcomm Stadium. It then moved to Sleep Train Ampitheatre in Chula Vista until 2016, before returning to SDCCU Stadium for the 2017 show.

X-Fest is an annual music festival held each year in various venues throughout the U.S. by Clear Channel Communications radio stations. It features alternative rock, hard rock, heavy metal, grunge, and industrial rock bands.

San Diego’s X-Fest concerts have been headlined by notable acts such as Blink-182, The Offspring, 311, Modest Mouse, Incubus, Panic! at the Disco and Phoenix.

The cancellation is only for the 2018 X-Fest. Plans for future event have not yet been announced.
