97-year-old Navy veteran visits USS Midway, the ship he served on

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The USS Midway Museum plays host to thousands of visitors every year but today one visit was exceptionally special. That is because one sailor who was part of the Midway’s maiden voyage in 1945 once again stepped foot on board.

The 97-year old Wisconsin resident, Ed Stankowski, worked in radio communications while serving aboard the aircraft carrier.

Stankowski and his family were given a guided tour of the entire ship including some time in radio area where he spent most of his time.
