97-year-old San Diego woman honored for her military service

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A San Diego woman has been honored for being a trailblazer in the Marine Corps.

Sergeant Major Grace Carle joined the Marines when she was 20, serving during World War II, The Korean War and Vietnam.

She is now the last living Sergeant Major of the US Marine Corps Women’s Reserve, and is one of only six women to hold the position.

Carle’s social worker wanted to honor her 30-plus years in the military by holding a ceremony at the Somerset Subacute and Care Facility.
