April is Alcohol Awareness Month
In recent years, much focus has been placed on the ongoing drug epidemic in the state, but some warn that alcohol can also be a problem for adolescents.
April marks Alcohol Awareness Month, and the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence has dubbed this year’s theme “Changing Attitudes: It’s not a ‘rite of passage.'”
Alcohol abuse in adolescents is linked to violence, suicide and unsafe sex, even in those who do not develop a long-term addiction, according to information from the council.
