A fatal hit-and-run in Lemon Grove leaves woman dead

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A woman was killed in Lemon Grove by a hit-and-run driver.

According to Sgt. Michelle McPhail, the victim was running along Massachusetts Avenue near Mount Vernon Street when she was hit around 7:40 p.m. Saturday night.

The victim, whose name has not been released yet, was pronounced dead on scene.

The driver, 46-year-old Guillermo Alvarado-Soler returned to the scene an hour later and surrendered to the police.

According to the jail records, Alvarado-Soler was booked into jail on suspicious of hit and run causing death.

Police say drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the collision.
