Accident leads to closure of I-805 during morning rush

NATIONAL CITY (CNS) – A crash involving a car and a big rig prompted the closure Wednesday of two lanes of southbound Interstate 805 in National City, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash happened just after 7:30 a.m. on Interstate 805 near Sweetwater Road, according to the CHP. A silver Toyota Avalon reportedly became trapped under the back of the semi.

The car's driver was extricated from the vehicle and taken to a hospital, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Two of the highway's southbound lanes were closed around the location of the crash, the CHP said.
