Addressing transportation challenges for young San Diegans

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – San Diego Metropolitan Transit System Chair Nathan Fletcher, will join 2021 Hoover High School Class President Diana Frias on her bus ride and walk to school on Tuesday, December 17 to address the transportation challenges young San Diegans face.

Diana Frias is a member of Mid-City CAN’s Improving Transportation in City Heights (ITCH) Team, which has advocated for Youth Opportunity Passes (no-cost transit for youth) since 2011.

MTS is considering a 2020 ballot measure that would raise sales taxes to fund future transportation projects. ITCH has advocated for MTS to fund no-cost transit passes for young San Diegans through the proposed sales tax increase.

District 4 County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher and  Hoover High School Class President Diana Frias were in studio to tell us more about this.
