Adopt Cherokee from the Greyhound Adoption Center

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Cherokee is a two year old retired greyhound residing at the Greyhound Adoption Center in El Cajon. She arrived from the Caliente racetrack in Mexico with two year old Lightning on April 26, 2018. Cherokee came to us with an injured leg but the x-ray showed no break so more than likely it was a soft tissue injury/sprain. It seems to have healed just fine with some additional bed rest and limited activity. She cannot live in a home with cats, but she would enjoy joining an active family with children of all ages and dogs over 30 pounds. Cherokee is a lively, happy, well-adjusted, loving little greyhound.

All dogs from the Greyhound Adoption Center have a complete medical evaluation, are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and undergo a thorough dental cleaning. They are then fully evaluated for temperament and personality as well as tested with cats, small dogs, and young children before being profiled for a home.

The Greyhound Adoption hosts an Open House and tour of their facility every third Sunday of the month from 1-3:00 PM. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the breed, greyhound rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, and volunteer opportunities. Personal tours may also be arranged by appointment only.
