After igniting twice, Pala fire fully contained

PALA (KUSI) — The Pala fire that burned 70 acres in the North County and ignited twice over the past week was fully contained Tuesday morning, Cal Fire said.

The fire destroyed one home and several outhouses near its origin point in the 38800 block of Pala Temecula road, according to Cal Fire. The fire began as a house fire at the location but quickly spread to trees and brush.

Authorities evacuated about 100 residents Tuesday afternoon but they were allowed to return home later that day as fire officials began to contain the fire. High heat and strong winds Friday started several smaller fires and residents were again evacuated.

250 firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, three  of which suffered minor injuries, according to Cal Fire.
