Helix Highlanders 21, Bonita Vista Barons 6

Helix pulling off a 21-6 victory over Bonita Vista in Week 6 to improve to 3-2 as the Barons drop to 0-5 on the season.

After a slow Scottie start they were able to put points on the board thanks to a 2 touchdown 161 yard rushing performance by Brett Braunsdorf. Braunsdorf pounding the ball until he broke free for the 10 yard touchdown scamper in the 3rd quarter and 51 yard score shortly after.

Both teams plagued by turnovers. Helix’s Carson Baker throwing for 351 yards and a touchdown but also 4 interceptions. Bonita Vista would fumble twice but had a lot of success running the ball against the Scotties. Jacob Rozar was able to get it done on both sides including a nice interception at the 5 yard line. Josh Godfrey also making some catches but it was Anthony Posada to Nick Esquivias that put the Baron’s on the board in the 2nd quarter.

Other bright spots for the Scotties was the 59 yard punt return by Rashad Scott and a touchdown reception by Jaylen Arnold.

Up next for Helix, they will host Steele Canyon to start league play. Meanwhile Bonita Vista will host Castle Park on their home turf.


Week 6 of the Alarm Clock Pep Rally game brings us to the campus of Helix Charter School as they host Bonita Vista. The Highlanders are 2-2 this season while the Barons are still searching for their very first win on the season.

Last week Helix dropped their second game of the season to PPR number one ranked Cathedral. They are led by junior quarter back Carson Baker who on average throws for 250 yards per game and has six touchdowns this season. Add to that the play of Ezekiel Noa who has four touchdowns on the year and who has five on the year. Last week Helix jumped out to the fast start but was unable to finish with the win.

Bonita Vista is led by senior quarter back Anthony Posada who has thrown for eight touchdowns and over 800 yards this season. Josh Godfrey is their man carrying the ball on the ground. Bonita Vista with a very tough non-conference schedule that has included PPR top 9 ranked teams in Madison, Poway, and Madison. They are coming off a 27-20 loss to Point Loma in which Dean Klaser, Anthony Posada and Jacob Rozar all found the end zone.
