All Star Game Red Carpet Parade

Tuesday, MLB All Stars paraded through the streets of downtown San Diego, aboard brand new Chevy Silverado trucks on their way to one of the biggest games of the year, the 2016 MLB All Star Game. Arriving to Petco Park in style, the players and their families were welcomed by San Diego residents as well as thousands visiting from other parts of the country/world. The several mile long red carpet stretching from the Manchester Grand Hyatt all the way to the ball park was something both players and fans alike had never experienced before.

"It was pretty cool," says San Diego’s own Drew Pomeranz, "I saw a lot of Padre fans out there, they were pretty loud and supportive, it was pretty awesome." There were many San Diego residents out to support their home team, but a lot of the crowd came from many miles away. "This is awesome. This is my first time to San Diego and it’s just been fabulous!" says St. Louis native Becky McNutt, who also had a chance to meet the Cardinals mascot along the parade route.

As the streets filled with excitement over favorite players and previous championship teams, it begged the question, what would a world series parade bring to the city of San Diego?

"I want it to come to San Diego so bad," says long time Padre fan Brittany Womack, "we are hoping to have it come in the next couple years, but this is definitely a little glimpse of what it will look like."
