Alleged Serra Mesa bank robber to face charges

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Charges were expected Thursday for a man who allegedly robbed a bank branch inside of a Serra Mesa-area grocery store.

The man approached the Wells Fargo inside the Vons located on Murphy Canyon Road near Aero Drive just after 11:30 a.m., according to police. The man demanded cash and left the store with an undisclosed amount.

He attempted to escape on a bicycle. but was apprehended a short time later at a trolley stop near Rancho Mission Road. The suspect’s name was not immediately available.
